Tasmania’s famous seafood, local free-range meats, seasonal vegetables, char-grilled steaks, cheese and a wide range of cool climate wines – but nothing too fancy.

If you didn’t know, we’re located at the ground level of Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart, right on the waterfront – We look forward to seeing you!

We just finished our meal at the Tasman. The staff were great. The atmosphere was great.
The views were beautiful. The food , we had eye fillet steak, it was the best steak I ever had.
I’ve written countless reviews, but this restaurant tonight was faultless.
A big thank you to the chef, and all the rest of the staff.

Great restaurant!

We saw this restaurant attached to the Grand Chancellor Hotel so went into the hotel lobby to read the menu. The menu read well so we booked for the following night. The dinner selection was excellent and the meals certainly didn’t disappoint. We went back another night as we were so impressed. Both experiences we couldn’t fault.

Superb service, first-class food

This is an excellent restaurant, and on the day we visited it was not possible to fault either the food or the service. Fine food, served quickly, knowledgable waiting staff, and a good wine list – the ingredients of a really good dining experience.

Highly recommended.

Tasman Restaurant, Hobart Grand Chancellor

We keep being asked when we're open again and now we have a date! We can confirm we will be open for dinner July 2nd and for breakfast July 3rd.

We’ll be back with a delicious new a la carte menu for both dinner and breakfast. The buffet breakfast will not be available for the current time but it will be back! Be sure to check out our Restaurant Tasman website a little closer to the re-open date for our new menus.

Bookings in Restaurant Tasman are encouraged to avoid disappointment as number capacities are currently limited.
Some aspects of operations may have changed a little to adapt to the current situation and we thank you for your support and understanding during this time. We’re still here to deliver great food and the same friendly customer service.

Chorizo Stuffed mushroom with capsicum and smoked paprika mayonnaise

Pan roasted asparagus with black garlic aioli, spring onion and hazelnut pesto

Smoke roasted duck breast with beetroot puree, blue berry sauce and potato "chips" with porcini salt

Banana parfait with a toffee sauce and lime
